Branch Reports

Hello All

Well this month was quite busy, a few members went up to Forfar to visit Andrew Montgomery. This is always a treat for us as he has quite an impressive collection of wheeled and stationary machinery. Much kudos to Brain McClure and Crawford Adamson for getting his Bonneville in a Norton frame sorted and the carb problem identified.

The highlight of the month however goes to the classic meet at Tighnabruaich. Tucked away on the Argyll coast is this wee village with scenery which is simply stunning. As always with the west coast of Scotland the rain is never far away. Saturday turned out to be a complete washout, so much so we had to cancel the run out. We had to go and sit in the pub, I know it was not ideal but we all put on a brave face. I would like to mention the four members from the Birmingham Wolves who literally braved torrential rain to make the meeting. It was much appreciated chaps and you can expect a return visit next year. Many thanks to Ali and Ruth who organised the whole weekend, judging by the size of my hangover it was a roaring success. Also commiserations to Bo Ryan who’s Bonneville engine internals decided that they wanted freedom and escaped with quite a large bang. I’m sure it will be on the road in jig time.

This month on the 24th the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (https://www.gentlemansride.com/) take to the streets of Glasgow and as it’s a Triumph sponsored event it makes sense for the branch to be involved. This year we are finishing at the Glasgow Triumph Dealership, they are putting on a bit of a doo. Bands will be Dirty Diamonds and the Gunslinger along with the following traders:

  • Rain Dogs Society Bespoke Barbers
  • Braw Beard Oils
  • Step Up Shoe Shine - exclusive shoe polishing
  • Prostate Cancer UK
  • Scottish Fire and Rescue Heritage Trust
  • Triumph Sports Six Classic Car Club
  • Lily Bakes Cakes
  • Love and Wishes Vintage Boutique
  • Handmade Silk Scarves
  • Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club - that's us btw
  • Classic Cruisers

Please register for a ride or if you can’t, sponsor someone who is. We are looking for volunteers to act as marshals, back markers and road markers on the day. If you wish to get involved just get in touch with me or Scotty. Check out https://www.facebook.com/events/250018855504672/ to see the Glasgow FB page. Hope to see you all their.

The AGM will be brought forward to the end of October and it is the intention to hold the Weggie walkaboot on the same night. This makes sense for those coming from further afield. For those new to the club, the Weggie walkaboot is basically a night in Glasgow, catching dinner and then a bit of a pub crawl. This normally entails lots of drinking and some very dodgy singing, not to mention the dancing. This is a great tradition within the club so lets make a night of it.

As far as the AGM is concerned this is your chance to air your opinions and put ideas towards the committee. This is your club and as we now have over one hundred members its even more important that we steer the branch on the right direction. If you would like any issues or ideas or wish to put forward events or ideas to put on the agenda just email me.

Also to remind members if you fancy a run or your off to en event why not put it on our FB page and get everyone else involved.

Cheers the Noo

Jock
